Assad Supports China's Active Political, Economic Global Presence
Syrian President Praises 'Multi-Polar' Shift in World Politics
Syrian President Bashar Assad expressed his country's support for China's active political and economic presence across the globe, stating that it contributes to the restoration of balance in the world.
Assad made these remarks during a meeting with China's Special Envoy for the Middle East, Zhai Jun, on Saturday, September 16.
In his remarks, Assad highlighted the close partnership between Syria and China, stating that their cooperation is an example of countries working together to establish a multipolar world order. He also pointed out the importance of turning away from the US dollar in favor of the Chinese yuan for economic development opportunities.
The Syrian president likewise praised China's mediation efforts in the diplomatic normalization between Saudi Arabia and Iran, which he believes will help stabilize the situation in the Middle East. Zhai confirmed that China will continue to support Syria in its fight against hegemony and interference in its domestic affairs, while also assisting Damascus in restoring ties with other Arab states.
The meeting between Assad and Zhai comes after China hosted landmark talks between Saudi Arabia and Iran in early March, where the two countries agreed to re-establish diplomatic relations and reopen their embassies. China's diplomatic efforts have been applauded by leaders across the region for their role in reducing tensions and promoting stability.
China's active involvement in global affairs aligns with its overall strategy of expanding its influence and increasing its economic footprint around the world. The country has been working on various initiatives, such as the Belt and Road Initiative, to strengthen economic ties with countries across Asia, Europe, and Africa.
China's collaboration with Syria also showcases its growing presence in the Middle East, a region that plays a crucial role in global politics and economics. By actively engaging with countries in the region, China aims to secure its energy interests and enhance its geopolitical influence.
The partnership between Syria and China reflects the evolving dynamics of international relations, with countries seeking to diversify their alliances and reduce dependence on traditional power centers. As the world becomes more multipolar, countries like China are positioning themselves as key players in shaping global order.
Syria's support for China's active political and economic presence across the world highlights the growing cooperation between the two countries. As China continues to expand its influence, its partnerships with countries like Syria will play a significant role in shaping the new multi-polar world order.
