Combat Capabilities Enter 'New Era', IDF Officials Say
JERUSALEM- Israel quietly unveiled an AI-powered tank and conducted joint air defense system drills with the United States as the Middle Easter nation prepares for the growing threat from Iran’s aggressive stance toward it.
Earlier in September, the United States Institute of Peace noticed that Iran has become a growing hostility for Israel, which continues to seek options.
Iran has likewise expressed its contempt for Israel’s ally in the United States, accusing the U.S. of “stoking” the war in Ukraine. As political tensions remain high, Israel and the United States continue to pursue a strong defense relationship.
U.S. and Israeli forces conducted joint training exercises on specialized missile air defense systems, the Israeli Defense Ministry stated on Thursday, September 21.
The allied nations carried out training on the specialized missile air defense system to counter rocket barrage attacks, The Times of Israel reported.
Both nations rolled out specialized systems for the test. Israel used multi-layered air defense systems, which reportedly included the short-range Iron Dome, the mid-range David's Sling, and the long-range Arrow and Patriot systems. Congruently, the United States conducted exercises with the Patriot, AEGIS, and THAAD systems.
Tests were carried out in the Israel Test Bed, also known as the ITB "battle lab" a battle test site developed by Elbit Systems subsidiary Elisra. Elbit Systems is headquartered in Haifa, Israel.
Tests between the two nations came in step with Israel's recent announcement of groundbreaking AI-tank technology. The new AI-capable "Barak" tank reportedly provides "total battlefield vision." Israeli officials explained that the tank has upscaled maneuvers and opened a "new era" for combat capabilities.
