Iranian Revolutionary Guards were seen conducting drone exercises in Deir Ezzor City, as tensions in eastern Syria continue to rise. The exercises took place at a training center near the State Security Branch, aimed at honing the skills of the militia members in piloting Kamikaze drones.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported yesterday that Iranian militias have been actively preparing agricultural airports near Al-Mayadin City, which is considered the "capital of Iranian militias" in the eastern part of Syria. These preparations come in the wake of growing concerns over potential attacks on the region.
Sources confirmed to SOHR revealed that one airport has already been fully prepared and fortified, indicating a heightened state of alertness and vigilance among the Iranian militias stationed in the area. These measures are seemingly taken to counter any potential threats or offensive actions.
Deir Ezzor City boasts several agricultural airports, which were originally intended for gliders to enhance agricultural development in the region known as Al-Jazira Al-Soriya (Syrian Island). However, recent activities suggest that the Iranian militias have found another purpose for these airports – utilizing them as training grounds for drone operations.
The use of drones by Iranian forces has raised concerns among regional security experts.
Drones, including the lethal Kamikaze drones, provide a strategic advantage in reconnaissance, intelligence gathering, and targeted strikes.
The drone exercises conducted by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards in Deir Ezzor City underscore their growing interest in leveraging advanced military technologies to maintain control and influence in the region.
